Hive Appeal 2018

Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice has launched an appeal to raise £30,000 to help develop and provide more services for families of children with complex medical conditions.

The hospice, a registered charity situated in Ash Green, Coventry, provides palliative respite and end of live care for babies and toddlers aged 0-5 years with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses and their families.

Head of Care, Gina Harris explained “We want to offer more services to the families that come to Zoë’s Place and to do that we need to provide additional facilities. So we are planning to build an additional building that will enable us to offer services such as complimentary therapy sessions, counselling, family coffee mornings and play and stay. We are calling the building the Hive as it will be a Hive of activity and a great addition to the hospice and families that use our services”.

“The hospice is now open round the clock every day offering a “home from home” environment for the children and much needed respite for families. We have already introduced animal, music, and rebound therapy sessions and hydro therapy is now happening weekly and the children really do enjoy these. So now we want to offer more for the parents and siblings particularly” added Gina.

Mick McCann, Fundraising Manager said “The people of Coventry and Warwickshire particularly have generously supported us since we opened in 2011. It is only recently that we have been in a position to offer our services 24/7, which is absolutely great. And we will need them to continue to support us to help us raise over £1m every year. But, we hope that having this project and knowing what more we can do to help families will inspire people to go that one step more and help us raise and additional £30,000”.

“We will be submitting grant applications, and organising a few events specifically for raising funds for the Hive but we also hope people and businesses will organise their own activities such as coffee morning, sponsored events and of course make donations. We have also already set up a dedicated justgiving page ” added Mick.

What a brilliant idea! The families will benefit so much from this additional space. I will certainly be encouraging everyone to support the project as well as organising a fundraiser myself
