Zoë's Place - Inspirational Health Team WellChild Award Winner 2016

What a night! Our nursing team here at Zoë's Place attended this years National Wellchild Awards that celebrates the inspirational qualities of dedicated health professionals to pick up the Inspirational Health Team of the year award.

This award is given to a team of healthcare professionals, who work to to make a huge difference to the lives of seriously ill children. 100's of entries for the 2016 Awards were judged by an expert panel including children’s health researchers, former winners and health professionals. This national award represents a huge achievement for our nursing staff who work tirelessly to care for our children who all suffer with life-threatening or life-limiting conditions. Wellchild's Director of Programmes, Linda Partridge said

'It is a tremendous challenge to select winners from the many, many truly amazing nominations we receive from all over the country. All the panel members are moved by the bravery of the children, the stories of selfless care and support and the dedication of the doctors, nurses, teachers, brothers and sisters who make a great difference to the lives of seriously ill children and young people. Zoë’s Place, Liverpool, truly deserves to be the winner of this award'.

The event itself was a star studded affair with TV celebs, music legends and Royalty in attendance! Below are a few pics from the event

Our team was nominated by Liverpool WellChild Children’s Nurse Elaine O’Brien. She said, when she first worked with the hospice, staff were already supporting babies and young children with highly specialised needs, however they had never cared for children on Long Term Ventilation. Despite the need for one to one staffing and the massive amount of training and development required, the team at Zoë's Place committed one hundred per cent to make a difference to these children's and families’ lives. She said

'I have experienced first-hand the impact of the compassion, reassurance and support that this hospice team brings to families. However, this support is also opened up to the professional team, as they always go the extra mile to help their local colleagues and place the child at the heart of any situation. Zoë's Place Liverpool nurses have surpassed any of the expectations I had, and continue to provide a first class, compassionate and caring environment for all the children they care for'.
