Team Jack get set for Great North Run
Debbie Miller and her dedicated team, “Team Jack,” are gearing up to participate in the 2024 Great North Run, all in memory of Debbie’s beloved son, Jack, and to support the vital work of Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice.
Jack, who was born in 2014 with a rare life-limiting neurological disorder, spent much of his young life at Zoe’s Place, where he found comfort and joy in the sensory and therapy facilities, including the hydrotherapy bath. These experiences brought Jack immense relaxation and happiness, helping him cope with his condition while receiving the specialist care he needed.
Debbie expressed her deep gratitude for the care Jack received at Zoe’s Place, saying, “We simply would not have been able to cope without the help and support of Zoe’s Place. The hospice was a very special place for our family, and it continues to support us even after Jack’s passing in 2022.”
Now, Debbie and her friends are taking on the challenge of the Great North Run to give back to the hospice that meant so much to them. The funds they raise will go directly towards supporting the wide range of services Zoe’s Place offers, from respite care to sensory play and beyond, ensuring other families can benefit from the same compassionate care.
On Sunday, 8th September, Team Jack will join thousands of other runners in Newcastle for the Great North Run. They are calling on the community to support their efforts, knowing that every donation will help sustain the incredible work of Zoe’s Place.
“Running has been a way for me to manage the stress of caring for a severely disabled child and to maintain my own health,” Debbie shared. “But this year, it’s about so much more. It’s our way of giving back to Zoe’s Place and helping ensure that other children can continue to receive the same vital care and comfort.”
