Zoe’s Place families experience magical day at Chester Zoo
What an incredible day! Families from Zoe’s Place enjoyed a special trip to Chester Zoo. This adventure was not just an opportunity to explore the zoo, but also a chance for our families to connect, relax, and create cherished memories together.
For those who may not know, Zoe’s Place is a baby hospice that provides palliative, respite, and end-of-life care to babies and infants, whilst supporting the whole family. Recognising the immense value of creating joyful experiences, Zoe’s Place along with Variety, a children’s charity, organised this trip to Chester Zoo, ensuring a special family day.
One of the parents shared, “It made it the perfect escape and little treat! It was so lovely to mix with other families who have a similar experience to us. We really appreciate the opportunity to have family time and time with our Zoe’s place family! We have made connections and friendships at Zoe’s which are strengthened by days out like this! Forever grateful!”
The day was packed with unforgettable moments and created some of the children’s first visit to the zoo. The highlight for many was the enchanting Butterfly House, where colourful butterflies fluttered around freely, adding a touch of magic to the day 🦋
One of the most heart-warming aspects of the trip was seeing families connect with each other. Parents found comfort in sharing stories, advice, and support, while the children, especially siblings formed new friendships.
Misha, Zoe’s Place Play Specialist, shared “Events like this are so important to our families to help create valuable memories and connections with other families in similar circumstances. They also are so beneficial for our siblings who often become young carers themselves. It gives them opportunities just to be kids!”
Days out are a great way to create special memories with our babies! The continued support and donations from the community mean that we not only provide respite and therapies, but we also are able to take our babies and families on lots of days out, so thank you!
