Summer Reunion Party at Zoe’s Place

Coventry Hospice news

We recently had the joy of hosting a heart-warming summer reunion party at Zoe’s Place, where children and their families gathered for a day filled with celebration, love, and fun. It was a beautiful opportunity for families we’ve supported in the past and present to reconnect, share their stories, and create new memories together.

The day began with a warm welcome from a pair of friendly alpacas, who quickly charmed everyone with their cheeky faces and nearly convinced the ice cream man to give them a 99′. The magic didn’t stop there—children were enchanted by the appearance of unicorns, adding an extra touch of wonder to the day.

The party atmosphere was alive with excitement as circus performances brought smiles to everyone’s faces. We even witnessed some of our nurses taking a shot at mastering a few circus tricks! Meanwhile, the children had an absolute blast on the bouncy castle, jumping and playing to their hearts’ content. The day’s adventures continued with a visit from our Animal Man, who introduced the children to his fascinating collection of creepy crawlies. For many, it was a thrilling journey into bravery, especially when he brought out a tarantula—making the experience all the more unforgettable.

A particularly touching moment was when families like Jaidyn’s reunited with his former nurses, reminiscing about his time at Zoe’s Place. Jaidyn expressed that he was ‘very happy to see his old nurses again’, and we even managed to gather the whole team for a group photo.

Thanks to the generosity of the Rapid Relief Team, everyone enjoyed a delicious spread of food, complemented by an array of sweet treats kindly baked by our wonderful volunteers.

The Summer Reunion Party was more than just a day of entertainment; it was a powerful reminder of the love and support within our Zoe’s Place community. The event highlighted the strength and resilience of the families we support and the deep bonds that unite us all. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to making the day so special.

Families were thrilled with the event, eagerly anticipating the next one. As one family shared, “We had the best time seeing everyone; we can’t wait for the next one!” Another family mentioned that their child, Sam, believes “it should be an annual event!”

Reflecting on this beautiful day, our hearts are filled with gratitude, and we look forward to more opportunities to bring our Zoe’s Place family together in the future.

Our Head of Care, Tracey Armstrong shared:

Thanks to the whole team of nurses, other staff members and volunteers who helped organise this really special event. Everyone who dedicated their time has helped bring smiles to so many faces. It was so lovely to see everyone again, and we’re really grateful to everyone who came and made the event so special.

Zoe’s Place is the UK’s only baby hospice charity. Our expert team of carers and nurses provide respite care for children aged 0-5 with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. From each of our hospices we offer a home-from-home filled with compassion and joy, supporting families to build memories that last a lifetime. We are often described as a ‘lifeline’ for those we support; we are grateful to our supporters who empower us to be there for families when they need us most.
