Meet Izzy
20 years ago, Izzy’s birth revealed immediate challenges: an unusual head shape due to fused skull sutures, prominent eyes without formed sockets, and breathing difficulties. Diagnosed with Pfeiffer Syndrome, a rare condition impacting various functions, she was referred to Great Ormond Street Hospital for specialized care. At just three weeks old, Izzy underwent surgery to enlarge her skull and became the first infant to have facial distraction surgery to protect her eyes and aid breathing.
Finding adequate community care seemed daunting until a chance meeting led them to Zoe’s Place. The nurturing environment allowed Isobel to thrive emotionally and physically, transforming her into a cheeky toddler despite her communication challenges.
Now almost twenty, Izzy has defied expectations, her journey reflecting resilience and love. Her story mirrors that of many families supported by Zoe’s Place over the past two decades, a place of care and compassion. Isobel’s parents express deep gratitude for the dedication and support received during their journey.
