Meet Robyn…

Robyn has been attending Zoe's Place in Liverpool since 2023.

In 2021, Steph and John welcomed Robyn into the world.

Robyn has Spina Bifida, kyphosis of the spine and a shunt. Her conditions mean she has no feeling from the waist down, but that doesn’t stop her. Even though ‘she has been through quite a lot,’ Steph, Robyn’s Mum, explains, ‘she dead strong and happy all the time. Even when she’s sick, she’s always smiling…She’s just a little warrior.’

When Robyn’s family found Zoe’s Place last year ‘it was a lifesaver’, explains Steph, ‘you just felt like home as soon as you walked in.’ With the complex needs that Robyn has, Steph worries about leaving her, ‘I don’t trust many people with her because of the needs that she’s got. You find you struggle to, like, give yourself a break’. That’s where Zoe’s Place comes in, with the experienced and nurse-led team, Steph is able to feel confident leaving her in the care of the Zoe’s Place team as she is in ‘a safe environment’.

When Robyn is at Zoe’s Place, she gets to enjoy a range of therapies and play, including Hydrotherapy, which she loves!

‘She gets to do all play, all the sensory, everything that keeps her stimulated, really, and then that gives me time with my other kids.’

Zoe’s Place prides itself on taking care of the whole family. Steph shares, ‘They not only care for Robyn when she is there, they look after all the family too.’ Beyond offering respite to the families, Zoe’s Place provides holistic therapies, counselling and special family and sibling days.

Zoe’s Place, with its excellent facilities and compassionate staff, has become a lifeline for families like Robyn’s. It offers a home-from-home where they can find understanding, assistance, and moments of respite in their challenging journey.

‘Without Zoe’s Place we don’t know what other support we would get. We would be lost without them, they are a big part of our lives.’
